I decided on the lower of the wooden block walls. The one with a L-shaped profile as it is more stable. I added the stone paper to the front and back.
Left-most section with modelling clay added for earthworks in place of ‘crumbled walls’. Pikemen to indicate relative height. |
I might add some paper to the top of the walls, depending on whether I go for earthworks added to the top. Then I’ll decide whether to add paper to the sides or just paint them.
Looking good matey. The paper stone effect works really well! You know we’re expecting a full scale castle by next week, right?
ReplyDeleteWhat in 1:1 scale? Might need a bit longer.
DeleteYou make good progress. I like the stone paper. Where do you get that?
ReplyDeleteThe paper was from a railway model accessories supplier in Cornwall that I found on eBay. I can’t find the details of the company at the moment but the manufacturer is modelrailwayscenery.com .
DeleteThese are looking great, this is all coming together very nicely indeed. Terrific work.
ReplyDeleteCheers Alan. A bit more progress today during the Hungary game.
ReplyDeleteThe printed paper on the walls looks very effective.
ReplyDeleteIt’s good stuff. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it before.
DeleteThat height looks good. These are gonna look so good once finished.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
They look good, will you do something to the firing step/walkway too?
ReplyDeleteI’m experimenting with blocks to put the bases on. I can move these around as I need them. Much simpler than trying to attach walkways to the walls, which will not be deep enough for my normal bases anyway if they’re anything like in scale.
DeleteI’ve just given them a coat of dark brown for now and will see how they look (they’ll not really be seen much). Also working on the earthworks at the top of the stone wall at the moment. Steve J gave me the idea when he mentioned the poor state of medieval walls by the time of the Civil War.
