London’s only interregnum church

Came across this item in my news feed today. It’s an interesting blog for a geek like me based in the metropolis

https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/articles/st-matthias-londons-only-interregnum-church-56729/

One strand I often get pinged about are Ian’s visits to London alleys!

  1. Interesting stuff Chris. Near to us they are restoring a Wesleyan chapel that has lain derelict for donkey's years, even though it was just set back from a busy high street. Once finished it should make for an interesting visit.

  2. There’s something about old churches put to other uses isn’t there.

  4. Really interesting article, you'd have thought that with a government ordained by God and intent on doing his work that they'd have built more churches or at least chapels!

    1. I suppose in their defence, it wasn’t a long period (8 years) and the economy must have taken a big hit with the wars.
I’ve been listening to an interesting podcast on the Rest is History about Cromwell’s Protectorate. I don’t know much about him, but it seems that he wasn’t such a party pooper after all (in England).
