Duffy Festschrift!

Helion have got an event on in honour of the good doctor on 5 July. Tickets are only £5 but very limited in number. I’ve got mine!

You have to put a shift on to book your ticket. In fact it has to be a fastshift.

    1. I certainly will. One of the benefits of living in the metropolis. The price is a bargain.

    1. The only problem is I will be so overwhelmed with hero worship that I will not take anything in. I was the 50-something man who desperately wanted to speak to Sean Pearson when he came into the club ticket office, but couldn’t think of what to say. And you could be forgive for saying ‘who?’
Right I need to find some suitable ‘clobber’ for the event. Working from home for 2+ years has done my standards no good at all. Would going as Old Fritz be OTT? Or would ‘Don-meets-Rupert’ be more the thing? Brown shoes anyway.

  3. Brilliant, you will be in your element!
I imagine blazers, ties and tweed jackets may predominate, which is of course absolutely fine. But 'brown in town'? Hmm..

    1. I thought that’s what officers wore? Probably just showing my (lack of) class. 😁

    1. It was worth signing up for the Helion mailing list. Occasionally good stuff comes up. Another one was the virtual book launch.

      I’ll report back.

  5. Helion have been extremely active in the past few years haven't they—and publishing some excellent tomes too?
Enjoy the event. Do you get a deal on the book/proceedings?
    Regards, James

    1. Apparently you do get a discount on the book. Will have a look at it at the event hopefully. £5 is nothing. Less than a pint in London.

Helion certainly do pump out the volume. The quality is variable in my experience, from a proof-reading/editing/translation point of view. But they do support the sector so worth supporting them when you can.
