Ruminations on wargaming, especially the Seven Years War, the English Civil War and other 'black powder' periods. Occasional forays into obscure Nordic music and opinionated 'dribble' [sic] on Grimsby Town Football Club.

The Great Cabin Inaugural Game
Not a wargame. What did you expect? First official use of the cabin was to listen to BBC Radio Humberside ont'interweb the game live from Edgeley Park, Stockport. Happy with a 0-0 draw. 12-1500 Mariners there on a Tuesday is testament to the mania that afflicts those of us born within sight of Dock Tower.

I was almost excited by a game being played in the new venue 🙁
ReplyDeleteIt’s called ‘clickbait’ my friend 😉
DeleteSo it is…
DeleteYes but is it nice and warm in there? I need to know for when I move in.
ReplyDeleteTemperature was comfortable. No heating device installed yet, nor necessary, but I did have a thick shirt and a jumper on.
DeleteWhen TCMB kicks you out over the winter I’m sure there’ll be some heating. No loo but the bamboo at the back needs regular watering.
Moving towards that first game nicely...
ReplyDeleteNow THAT’s how a real man furnishes a room!
ReplyDeleteI’ve never been called a real man before. Thank you. I’m feeling quite emotional. Damn ruined it!
DeleteSuitably stripped down and nordic!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Do you think the ‘interior designer’ might be homesick?
DeleteNice click bait! I recognise that mania - it never affected me but I had a mate in late teens early twenties who would travel to BERWICK to support our local team Montrose FC (commonly know as Montrose nil!). He even wrote an official history of the club - it must be rare as....because it is on Amazon in paperback for £102! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-History-Montrose-Football-1879-1991/dp/B0012KMSAC
ReplyDeleteNot like their 17th century namesake then!
