Camposanto set-up

I haven't had chance to get the game played yet. It's ready to go though:

View from behind the Spanish position. The town of Camposanto in the middle of the Spanish position. The main Austro-Piedmontese force on the opposite side, with their light troops on the left. The table is 100x60cm.

View from behind the Austro-Piedmontese centre. Flags are hand-painted, some of which I admit to being proud of, especially the double-headed eagle on the left.

Allied cavalry (left) wing

Allied right wing

Centre of the Spanish line. Part of the Guardias Españolas brigade on the left, then Brigade Castille, and off to the right (their left) the Guardias Vallonas

Spanish right wing.

  1. Looks good! Nice flagwork too. Very interested in seeing how your interpretation of the battle plays out.

  3. Excellent set up Chris and just the sort of game size wise that ticks all the boxes for me:). Looking forward to seeing how the action unfolds. Great shots of the figures and kudos for hand painting those flags!

    1. Something you could do with your 10mm figures maybe? Thanks for the compliments (which I in no way fished for 😉)

  6. Looks like it will be a fun game Chris.
Great looking figures and flags. I am glad you mentioned you painted them as otherwise I would have thought they were decal or paper ones. Excellent work.

I’m going to delete the bit of the text that fishes for compliments now, to make it all look spontaneous.

  7. Very nice Chris.
Have you considered replacing your table cloth?
I always think it's a bit dark (shades of card table) compared to your terrain and figure bases; unless of course it's to make the small chaps stand out......
In this era of terrain cloths it looks a bit "old school' and not in the intentional "lets have plain green bases" look....
See! It's not all compliments! ☺☺☺☺☺

    1. I have considered it Neil. But that’s as far as I’ve got. I’ve tried various spray paints to lighten it. In person it can look quite light but on photos it comes out darker.
Thanks for your honesty. You’re the only one I can trust! 😆

  8. Nice looking table although I agree with Neil re the cloth, as I have a very similar problem myself!
Looking forward to reading how the game unfolds, when you get around to playing it!

    1. Cheers Keith. I’m going to have to fork out on a mat aren’t I.
Real life seems to be getting in the way at the moment. Kids back from a long weekend, late meetings at work, off to a radio comedy recording tonight.

  9. My goodness Chris, that was quick. You were undercoating the Reichsarmee figures just the other day and now you have set up this marvellous looking table. Bloody bonza!

    1. Thanks James. That’s the benefit of these tiny figures. I finally got round to playing the game today, and it didn’t take long.
