Ruminations on wargaming, especially the Seven Years War, the English Civil War and other 'black powder' periods. Occasional forays into obscure Nordic music and opinionated 'dribble' [sic] on Grimsby Town Football Club.

Sheffield Modeler
I came across this on the BBC website. Whilst not specifically about wargaming, it is 'adjacent'. Enjoy.
Interesting stuff and great skill on display. I was a product desinger and modelmaker, so a very different area but very similar skills and tools used. I can only admire that sort of dedication and skill, but it's not for me.
Sadly no, but the model making World tended to have it's own niche areas, with very little crossover, although I did work on a few adverts way back in the late 1980's.
I much prefer it as a hobby now, as no stupid deadlines (unless self imposed!), clients etc, but to just be able to make what you want, when you want, is so nice:).
Interesting Chris, thanks for sharing....one of our group was a professional model maker for several years

Thanks for posting this Chris.
ReplyDeleteNow the lead/plastic pile is going to increase again 😂😂
Any excuse! That sounds like the time my wife blamed me for her eating a load of chocolate. It was my fault for buying it.

DeleteNice, I really like the greenhouse! I was a modelmaker for a while for TV but I kind of prefer it as a hobby?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
It's good isn't it. Interesting: you must have some stories to tell about your former career Iain.
