Gonna be busy with Real Life for a while, hence the rush to get figures painted. Nowt bad, just occupied doing other stuff. The Dutch are all based and in their magnetised Ferrero Rocher box. Just need to order the flock to finish them (and the Hesso-Brunswickers). But I'm holding fire on ordering while I think about what else I might need. Baccus and Pendraken do very fine flock which is good for 6 or 10mm figures.
As December is fast approaching, thoughts are turning towards a mini-campaign like I did the previous 2 New Year periods. Perhaps a narrower focus than previously. Something like Old Fritz's 1757 invasion of Bohemia?
But I really ought to get the new toys on the table for a battle or two before then. Maybe Minden and, as a more tricky scenario, Freiberg, so I can use the recently painted Germans and the Reichsarmee (more Germans).

Fast and splendid work, Chris! Now, how long will these Real Life distractions keep you away from the gaming table? Minden would be fun to see recreated and I have never seen Freiburg done.

Excellent work on those Chris and some nice close up shots too. For years I used what I think was 4mm flock for my 10mm figures, but recently bought some 2mm to replenish stock, which sort of looks better, but it does tend to lie rather flat in comparison. Probably perfect for 6mm figures.

I basically grab a clump of flock and then sprinkle it onto the base from an inch or two higher, then lightly press it down with the end of a paint brush to make sure any nooks and crannies are covered. I leave it for a minute of two then turn upside down and gently knock to excess off. Next day I give the base a good tap to remove the remaining flock and have a paint brush to hand dust off any that remained on the figures etc.
DeleteMaybe it’s the pressing down that makes it lie flat? I don’t have much of a problem with it, not that I’ve noticed any way.

ReplyDeleteThose Ferrero Rocher boxes are excellent for small figures and other things (knives, brushes, bits and pieces) aren't they? My wife loves Lindt Lindor. Their cardboard boxes are similarly useful, but their special edition metal boxes are rooly excellent!
